Febian Brandy praised by Walsall FC boss Dean Smith

Dean Smith today hailed "maturing" Febian Brandy and predicted there is more to come from the flying winger.

The performances of Brandy, who rejoined the Saddlers on loan from Sheffield United in January, have been a consistent bright spot on an otherwise miserable nine- game winless run.

Smith believes the 25-year-old is now a wiser player than the one who left for Bramall Lane last summer.

"He's matured an awful lot," said Smith. "There is a lot more to come from him. I think the last three games, Febian has been outstanding. He was our best player against Crewe; he was excellent last week at Rotherham and I thought he was our best player against Wolves, too.

"I know he is getting frustrated because he feels he should score more goals and create a bit more but the maturity he shows, on and off the ball, has been excellent."

Brandy came back to the Banks's after falling out of favour at the Blades, but Smith played down the chances of a permanent return this summer.

"He is Sheffield United's player," he said. "He has another two years on his contract."
