Walsall expect Will Grigg to sign deal next week

Walsall are confident in-form striker Will Grigg will sign a new deal next week.

Manager Dean Smith revealed today that talks with the player and his agent were in the final stages – and pointed to a happy conclusion for Saddlers fans.

Grigg has hit the headlines with a blaze of goal-scoring form which has brought him five in the last two games and made him a strong contender for the club’s player of the season.

And Smith said today: “The talks we are having are very positive and the most important thing is that Will has made it clear he wants to stay.

“I am hopeful we will have everything sorted out sometime next week.”

Smith confirmed that Grigg, who has 16 goals this season, is being offered a two-year deal to tie him to the club until the summer of 2015.

Club should sort this and Butler asap. Then the people of Walsall (&those disaffected at Wolves & Villa), should get behind the players and get down the Banks's to watch, what is the best football being played in Midlands!!!!! UTS!!!!!

If he signs i will send him a valentines.

Even if he is just getting us half a million quid for his services.

What a man.

If this goes ahead, Dean Smith and the club deserve a lot of praise, considering there's bound to be clubs in higher divisions interested in him. At last, some ambition from the club!

Although this is promising news about Grigg...still absolutely no mention of Febian Brandy! If there's one thing that frustrates me about Walsall FC, it's the lack of info coming out of the club! They surely must know that almost every supporter wants to know what's happening with Brandy. They're happy to tell us they're talking to Grigg (which is great) but zero information on Brandy - unless I'm missing something here and he has already signed a deal when he joined which takes him into next season. If anyone knows, perhaps they could enlighten me. Thanks.
