Febian Brandy aims to repay Walsall FC boss with goal rush

Febian Brandy today targeted a goal rush to break Walsall's winless streak after ending his three-year drought.

The striker scored his first goal since December 2009 in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Crawley on his full League debut for the Saddlers.

He is set to start again in tonight's trip to League One leaders Tranmere and wants to find the goals to end the 12-game winless run.

"I want to get back to how I used to be years ago, what people used to see me as," said Brandy, who last scored in Gillingham's 3-1 win over Stockport in 2009.

"It's been a rocky road and I'm not asking people to feel sorry for me, I'm not that type of guy, but you're only as good as your last game.

"At the start of the season I came here on trial and the gaffer took a gamble on me. I want to repay him as much as I can as get as many points as we can.

"I've been out of the game for the last year-and-a-half, two years, and I couldn't even remember when my last goal was.

"It's a shame I got brought down at the end (by Joe Walsh who was sent off) because I knew I was going to score. But we should take the point as a positive, we wanted to get something and we did."

The former Manchester United trainee should shrug off a minor thigh problem after he pulled up just before half time on Saturday following treatment at the break.

"I pulled my thigh before half time and I got a strapping and I thought I was going to have to go off. But I needed to get 90 minutes from somewhere," said the 23-year-old.
