Walsall striker Jamie Paterson signs new contract with Saddlers

Walsall striker Jamie Paterson today signed a new contract which will tie him to the club until 2014.

The Saddlers starlet has inked a two-and-a-half year contract after an impressive start to the season.

Paterson has broken into manager Dean Smith’s first team and scored his first senior goal in the 1-1 draw at Huddersfield earlier this month.

The 19-year-old, who played in Saturday’s 4-2 home defeat to Bury, said: “Now I’ve got my first goal out of the way, I want to push on and add to my tally.

“I have the chance to really establish myself and I will be working hard so that my game will continue to develop. I’m enjoying my football and desperately want to do well for myself and the club.”
