Lee Beevers is happy to hand over Saddlers goalkeeping jersey

Walsall utility man Lee Beevers today insisted he has no plans to switch positions after his emergency goalkeeping duty.

The right-back was forced to replace Jimmy Walker in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to MK Dons after the veteran stopper was sent off for handling outside the box.

It left Beevers in goal for over an hour but, despite looking comfortable, he was unable to stop Dean Lewington’s free kick and Jabo Ibehre’s tap in.

Beevers had already been nominated as stand-in stopper with David Grof out of the squad but admitted he was stunned to take over.

He Joked: “I just thought ‘oh God.’ It was alright but I don’t envy them at all. It’s not something I will be making a habit of – definitely not. I think Grof might be straight back in.”
