Walsall are yet to come up smelling of roses – but at least they can listen to some.

The Saddlers have raided boss Dean Smith’s iPod to listen to the Stone Roses in a bid to stop looking like Fools (Gold).

Sitting 17th in League One with one win in 10, early optimism has faded and the team has called on the band to inspire them for tomorrow’s visit of Milton Keynes Dons.

Smith is a fan of the reunited foursome and the manager admitted his players have pinched his ‘lucky’ iPod – which has an unbeaten record – to help prove they are What The World Is Waiting For.

He said: “I’m starting to trend set in the dressing room – the lads suddenly want my iPod now the Stone Roses have come back into fashion. It helps get the lads up.”
