Walsall boss Dean Smith left frustrated by Saddlers’ striker search
Wednesday 26th October 2011, 10:00AM BST.
Walsall manager Dean Smith today insisted he will not blow the Saddlers’ cash and revealed his frustration over their striker search.
The Banks’s Stadium boss wants to beef up his attack but has been left empty-handed in his bid to secure fresh firepower.
The goal-shy Saddlers have hit just 15 goals in 15 League One games this season – the joint second lowest in the division with second-bottom Wycombe – and were downed 2-1 at home to Exeter last night.
Smith has been hunting a new hitman but warned the Saddlers cannot afford to waste what money they have.
He said: “I can go out and get loan signings but they’ve got to be better than what we’ve got. We know there’s not major money to go and play with, but there’s money there and we’ll see what we have to do.”
