Mat Sadler left to rue Saddlers defeat

Mat Sadler today admitted Walsall blew their chance at Tranmere and warned they are running out of excuses.

The left-back insisted the Saddlers tossed away a precious point after Mustafa Tiryaki’s late strike saw them go down 2-1 at Rovers on Saturday.

They have now won just once in 10 games in all competitions and, after defeat left them 17th in League One, Sadler admitted they only have themselves to blame.

The ex-Birmingham defender said: “That should be a 1-1 away draw and we should come away looking forward to beating Exeter tomorrow.

“Now we’ve lost where we really felt we shouldn’t have lost the game, so we have to go and beat Exeter.”

Running out of excuses Mat? Surely not. When you’ve run out one of the others will pipe up with something, but just in case, how about trying this one.
I’m sorry fans for making you watch this drivel. I’d like to say we’re all playing to the best of outr abilities, but we’re not. At the end of every game we all collapse exhausted having given everything for the cause, but we don’t. To be honest, we thought we were good enough to win this league, but we’re not.
As fans we don’t ask for much because we support the Saddlers through thick and thin, but the excuses are getting a little tiresome now. How about some honesty for a change?

2 home games this week. Should be 4 points, 6 would fantastic, but will probably be 1,2 or 3!…………. To be positive a moment (although finding that hard currently!), we are not being beaten or beating any team by large margins, so we aren’t far away. I hope Deano gives, Nicholls and Macken a try as the front combo….assuming we are sticking rigidly to 4.4.2 of course?
UTS! – Hope the players motivate me into posting somehting more positive?

it is a must win for the next two games we must get more goals per game and not relie on the 1–0 win or 1–1 draw come on Deano sort it out before it is too late

I see we have the usual knockers at work after one defeat. What about being real supporters, and supporting the team and the players. They are doing their best, and trying to earn their living.

After all if you think you have problems you should be a Man Utd Supporter

So I’m not a real support Bangkok Bry. 35 years of stand/sitting in the stands week in week out.. no I guess that does not make me a real supporter.
And as for one defeat… you mean one defeat since our first win in eight don’t you.

Blimey Bry. Always trying to see the positive side of things is one thing, totally and blatantly ignoring the negatives as if they don’t exist is something entirely different.

Why is Peter not supporting the team by pointing out that we’re currently not very good? I’ll be singing and shouting for the team tonight and Saturday but it doesn’t mean I can’t admit we are very poor.

I can understand people’s frustrations on here: 1 win in 10 is just not good enough. It’s true that we are not ususally being beaten by more than the odd goal but that was the case last season until the home drubbing by Tranmere. We haven’t got a bad defence but our midfield lacks presence and creativity and we don’t make enough chances. We have to consistently score more than one goal per game otherwise it puts too much pressure on teh defence. And yes, I agree with Swampy: we need to try Macken and Nicholls upfront.
