Mat Sadler reveals Walsall home woe
Friday 30th September 2011, 10:30AM BST.
Walsall left-back Mat Sadler today revealed the Banks’s Stadium woe as they bid to end their home hoodoo.
The Saddlers have won just once in League One at home this term – the opening day 1-0 victory over Leyton Orient – ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Carlisle.
Home form has been a long-standing problem – Walsall have won just 30 of their last 73 home league games – and Sadler admitted they feel uneasy at WS1.
He said: “There’s definitely a bit of edginess around the place when we play at home. We need to make the Banks’s a fortress – as it says when we walk out – and we need to pick up points at home.
“I don’t know what it is. Maybe there’s a bit of nervousness there which isn’t there when we’re away, maybe we set up in a way which helps us play away.”

Erm haven’t we picked up even less points away than at home this season ?

That Fortress Bescot sign should be removed – it’s embarrassing. I can imagine other teams players having a good laugh at that on the way to the pitch… our players must feel about an inch tall as they enter the field…

I am old enough to remember when Walsall would go for a year without losing at home.
Those were the days!!
