Mat Sadler: We’re focused again
Thursday 22nd September 2011, 1:10PM BST.
Mat Sadler today eased fears about Walsall’s slump and insisted the squad have rediscovered their focus.
The left-back admitted the Saddlers held positive talks this week after four winless games left them off the pace in League One.
They go to Colchester on Saturday 16th in the table following the weekend’s 2-2 draw with Scunthorpe, which boss Dean Smith branded awful.
But Sadler insisted the squad have drawn a line under their dip after Monday’s inquest and moved to allay fans’ fears. He said: “We’ve got an honest bunch of lads here and you won’t get any who are messing around but sometimes people need to be put in their place in terms of what’s expected from the manager.
“The last four games haven’t been great so it was the best time to sit us down and re-focus.
“We had a good meeting and the gaffer said a few things which needed to be said.
“It was more about what’s expected of us, rather than clear the air.”
