Saddlers boss gets low-down on rivals
Friday 26th August 2011, 11:27AM BST.
Walsall boss Dean Smith today revealed he has called on his Albion spies to unlock the secret of beating Bournemouth.
The Saddlers chief tapped up Baggies first-team coach Keith Downing for information on tomorrow’s hosts as he looks to pile more Midlands misery on the Cherries.
Albion beat Bournemouth 4-1 in the Carling Cup at Dean Court on Tuesday and Smith wants to add to their woes with victory in League One tomorrow.
He said: “I’m good friends with Keith Downing so I spoke with him and had a chat about them. We had them watched ourselves against Carlisle and I’ve got a DVD from the West Brom game so we’ll learn all we need to know about them. ”
The Albion defeat was Bournemouth’s third in a row following reverses against Carlisle and Stevenage.
Last season’s beaten play-off semi-finalists lost just five times at Dean Court last season but Smith believes if the Saddlers silence the home crowd they can shatter their fragile confidence.
“They’ve already been beaten by Stevenage at home and they’ve had three defeats on the spin now and hopefully we can make it four,” said Smith.
