Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Walsall 0 Middlesbrough 3

Marvin Emnes hit a hat-trick as 10-man Walsall were gunned down by ruthless Middlesbrough.
The Championship outfit took full advantage of Adam Chambers’ 12th minute dismissal to cruise into the Carling Cup second round.
Defeat continued the Saddlers’ League Cup woe and they have now failed to make it past the first round since 2006.
But they were left exposed after Chambers was shown a straight red card, following a two-footed tackle on Richard Smallwood.
Tony Mowbray’s side immediately capitalised and Emnes stroked in his first on 18 minutes, before doubling the lead with a classy volley eight minutes before half-time.
The Dutchman bagged his hat-trick from the penalty spot on 51 minutes, when Kevan Hurst tripped Smallwood in the box.
The Saddlers struggled to create clear openings but substitute Alex Nicholls did test goalkeeper Danny Coyne with a deflected drive just after the hour.
George Bowerman was given his senior debut as a late substitute for Ryan Jarvis, but Walsall were unable to find a consolation despite Andy Butler going close.
