Ryan Jarvis wants to haunt old boss

Walsall striker Ryan Jarvis today fired a warning to Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade and vowed – ‘I will prove you wrong.’

The striker, released by the Os in the summer, wants to haunt his old club when they visit the Banks’s Stadium for tomorrow’s League One opener.

Jarvis was ditched by Slade after being frozen out at Brisbane Road, making just 14 appearances last season.

And the 25-year-old, who spent three years at Orient, has come out fighting on the eve of the season determined to show Slade he made a mistake.

The Saddlers striker said: “He didn’t give me many opportunities last year and I don’t really know why, so it will be nice to show him it was wrong to let me go.

“Whether I start or I’m on the bench we’ll see and, if I am on the bench, then hopefully I will come on and make an impact.

“I can’t wait, as soon as I saw the fixture list come out I was buzzing – the same goes for Adam Chambers.”

Midfielder Chambers joined Jarvis at the Banks’s after five years in East London and Slade fears a backlash from his former players.

The Orient manager added: “That’s a sticky wicket straight away. With Jarvis and Chambers, they will probably score two goals each.”
