Andy Butler: Walsall FC can do it
Monday 25th April 2011, 11:29AM BST.
Andy Butler today insisted Walsall’s draw with Sheffield Wednesday could clinch survival.
The skipper has moved to dispel relegation worries after the fourth-bottom Saddlers failed to escape the League One drop zone on Saturday on goal difference.
A 1-1 draw with the Owls put them level on 44 points with fifth-bottom Dagenham while Bristol Rovers’ 2-2 comeback draw with Charlton made it a three-way tie.
And, before today’s trip to Oldham, Butler is adamant the result can be key.
“It was a good battling point and could be the one which keeps us up,” he said.
“The lads are full of belief. We’ve got ourselves back in the race and hopefully we can get over that finish line now. We’re full of optimism that we’ll stay up. I don’t think people can question the lads’ commitment.”
