Walsall sign Jordan Cook on loan

Walsall today clinched a deadline-busting deal to take highly-rated Sunderland midfielder Jordan Cook on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old, who made his Black Cats debut against Manchester United on Boxing Day this term, goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s game at Milton Keynes Dons, subject to clearance.

Cook joins Millwall’s Marc Laird at the Banks’s Stadium after the midfielder signed up yesterday and manager Dean Smith is delighted with his latest capture.

He said: “Jordan is another player that has been on our radar for some time. He’s played regularly for Sunderland reserves and has also broken into their first-team this season, so it shows how highly they rate him.

“The lad can play down the middle or out wide and is full of enthusiasm and pace, something that we need right now.

“We are grateful to have him here and he will be a welcome addition to the squad.”

Cook came through the ranks at the Stadium of Light and had a spell on loan at Darlington last season.
