Richard Taundry sets goal target
Thursday 27th January 2011, 11:26AM GMT.
Richard Taundry today revealed his goal target as he bids to provide the ammunition to fire Walsall off the bottom of League One.
The midfielder is yet to score this term and the team have netted just 28 goals between them.
Taundry, who is expected to shrug off an ankle injury in time to face Bristol Rovers on Saturday, grabbed his first Walsall goal against the Pirates in the Saddlers’ 1-0 win at the Memorial Ground last term.
“It hangs over your head when you’re not scoring when you know you’ve had the opportunities,” said the 21-year-old. “Before the start to the season we all had our targets, I’m aiming for five to 10 myself but whether I get them we’ll have to see.”
This time last season I didn’t have one and then suddenly I had three so hopefully that’ll happen again.
“It was a big part that was missing from my game. I got one and they suddenly started to come. It was a big change in the season for me in that respect and hopefully this year it will happen again because I haven’t scored yet.
“Everyone looks to see what you create, the opportunities you have and whether you put them away.”

This time last week we were staring down the barrel, third from bottom with a worse record than at the same stage last year, writes Saddlers blogger Mark Jones.

I’d settle for no Taundry goals in exchange for some clean sheets! If we had clean sheets in half the games we’ve scored in this season we’d be pushing for promotion.

Getting a bit fed up of players promising so much every week, but so far you’ve delivered nothing.maybe you should just get on with playing as you don’t do yourselves any favours by not being able to back up what you say..
