Will Grigg calls on Walsall fans for support
Thursday 30th December 2010, 11:27AM GMT.
Will Grigg today urged Walsall fans to forget their drop fears and stick with the Saddlers.
They host Notts County on Saturday after a thaw in the freezing weather which forced the club to postpone their last three home games.
A win over relegation rivals County could move the second-bottom Saddlers closer to safety after two wins in their last three League One outings.
But with fans still on edge over the real threat of relegation, Grigg wants them to back the team to the hilt on Saturday.
“I’d say to them that they just have to stick by the club,” said the striker.
“We’ve got lifelong supporters here and we’ve got to do the best we can.
“The fans have a right to be annoyed but we need their support.
“It’s not going to help us if we’re getting booed at home or away so we just need that support.
“We know they’re not going to jeer us forever but we need to get the results.”
Grigg could make his third straight start, despite the return to fitness of Jon Macken and Reuben Reid, after impressive recent outings.
“I think I’ve done well coming off the bench this season and obviously the gaffer has noticed,” said Grigg.

You are a striker after all ?
Less talk more action please.

Hark! Me thinks my ears embrace a battle cry from yonder, forsooth it breaks the winds of winter, in Walsall Town, the hearty souls of Bescot, those valiant of men. Come, let us away to the merriment of their cries, for soon a game will upon us and these barks laden with cliché must, as God wills it so, secure the Saddlers safety!
Or not. . . could just get on with playing football?

No offence Will but the club, manager and players owe the supporters big time after the rubbish we have had to put up with. Supporters are also sick of these constant battle cries and sly snipes at the fans that appear with tedious regularity in the press. Just focus on doing something on the pitch
