Byfield wants Walsall FC to go for broke

Skipper Darren Byfield today urged Walsall to forget the fear factor at the Banks’s Stadium and go for broke.

The Saddlers are due to host relegation rivals Dagenham and Redbridge tomorrow after yesterday’s Boxing Day clash at Bristol Rovers was frozen off.

Byfield insisted victory at home – where Walsall have won just four times this season – should be ‘a given’.

“There’s no way we should fear other teams and we need to believe anyone who comes here should be turned over,” said the striker, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury.

“The main thing is to make the Banks’s Stadium a fortress.”

When will the youth team be called in to join the ‘Rally Cry’? – and after that the ‘stewards’, ‘catering staff’ – when will it end?
