Walsall announce new trading profit

Walsall have today announced a trading profit for the fifth successive year.

The Saddlers have released their accounts which reveal a profit of £5,000 for the year ending 31 May 2010.

The club average just 3,761 at the Banks’s Stadium and, with several League One rivals handed winding-up orders, chairman Jeff Bonser hailed the figures.

He said: “I believe that this represents a considerable achievement in what continues to be a very difficult financial climate.

“Previously I have applauded the contribution of our main sponsors and commercial partners.

“It goes without saying then that once again I wish to place on record my appreciation to those organisations, in these difficult financial times, who have continued to support the club.”

The chairman is under-fire from fans with the Saddlers, who go to Torquay in the FA Cup tomorrow, bottom of League One.

But Bonser praised supporters and urged them to keep the faith with the club.

He said: “On behalf of everyone at Walsall Football Club I would like to say a big thank-you to our supporters for their continued loyalty and commitment to the club and to assure them that all our efforts are focused on giving them a team and a club to be proud of.

“We are working very hard towards achieving that goal.”

The annual meeting will be held in the Swifts Lounge at the Banks’s Stadium, on Monday January 10 at 9am.
