Richard Taundry reveals crisis talks

Walsall captain Richard Taundry has revealed crisis talks have helped to restore the Saddlers’ shattered confidence.
The team held a clear-the-air meeting ahead of their 2-1 comeback win over Carlisle on Saturday after a shocking run left them bottom of League One, eight points adrift.
Victory moved them to within five points of the safety line and Taundry admitted the Friday summit has given the team renewed belief.
He said: “It was a bit out of the blue but sometimes you need that to shake it up. The manager called the meeting and it has worked wonders.
“Things were said which have been said all season but it was all put into context. We all sat down together and the way it was said worked really well.
“It spurred us all on. We’ve gone through what’s good, what’s bad and what needs to be done and it was a positive reaction from all the boys.
“It was a fresh start for us and it was massive for us to show the fans and the staff we can do it.”
A Matt Richards double earned the points after Mike Grella had fired the visitors ahead to ease the Saddlers’ plight.
And Taundry admitted it was about time the players produced a worthy performance for their long-suffering supporters.
The 21-year-old said: “The fans have been expecting it right from the start of the season, it’s nice to show we’re capable of it and we can move forward.”

yeah one win Sas, but double the effort and effectiveness, especially at the back. still a long way to go, but if they play like that every week we’ll be fine. Problem is, Will they?
Hutch still needs to make more proactive substitutions.

I thought accoriding to Hutchings there was no crisis? I thought it was all down to bad luck (and an extremely large corner to turn)?
Oh well, let’s wait and see if it’s a turnaround or just a flash in the pan.

Still papered over the cracks for me.
A win against a poor team (granted their form was good prior to Saturday).
I reserve my judgement as to whether the recovery has started till after Sheff Wed and Torquay.

It really is nice to see a team rally together after a good heart-to-heart…Sometimes that’s all it takes…but as others have said…let’s not get carried away.
