Walsall’s Martin Devaney set for scan

Walsall were today facing an anxious wait to discover the extent of Martin Devaney’s hamstring injury.

The on-loan Barnsley winger limped out of Saturday’s 1-1 FA Cup draw at Fleetwood and is due to undergo a scan within the next 24 hours.

Devaney only extended his loan spell for another month at the weekend but, if the damage is severe, could be out for a number of weeks.

Manager Chris Hutchings said: “Martin just pulled up on Saturday.

“We’ll send him for a scan to find out the extent of the injury.”

Another loan signing, Andrew Davies, has returned to Stoke after his loan ended.

The defender made three appearances for the Saddlers before a thigh strain cut his spell short.

Hutchings said: “Andrew did well for us in the games he played. Unfortunately he picked up an injury against Tranmere which has meant he’s been unavailable for the last two weeks.

“He’s returned to Stoke to continue his rehabilitation and we wish him a speedy recovery.

“I’d like to thank Andrew and indeed Tony Pulis and John Rudge for allowing him to join us on loan in the first place.”
