Manny Smith fear for Walsall
Saturday 25th September 2010, 11:29AM BST.
Manny Smith today admitted he is worried Walsall’s promotion push could be over before it’s started.
The Saddlers’ poor opening to the season has left them well off the pace in League One.
And defender Smith said a vast improvement is needed to avoid getting cut adrift.
“We definitely don’t want to get left behind,” he said.
“There are loads of games left, everyone is disappointed but everyone has to improve their game.”
And the 22-year-old knows the Saddlers must improve results against the smaller sides if they are to make any headway.
He said: “We compete better against the bigger teams but we need to focus on the smaller teams like Tranmere – we should be easily winning those games.”
