Stourbridge Saxons told to dig deep
Tuesday 18th October 2011, 6:00AM BST.
Stourbridge Saxons head to fellow National One strugglers Cinderford this weekend with director of rugby Neil Mitchell urging his players to dig deep.
A narrow 19-18 defeat at the hands of Jersey on Saturday left the Black Country outfit propping up the division with just one win from seven games.
But Mitchell believes he has the manpower to put a string of results together and climb the table.
He said: “Cinderford will smell blood and our players are going to have to dig deep. I know it’s in the tank but it could be that we look at away games for our victories where we have nothing to lose.
“The deeper you get in the pit then the harder it is to get out and it will come down to the character of the team and the individuals to do that. We don’t deserve to be in this position, but it’s up to us to find that spark.”
Cinderford, like the Saxons, have just one win to their name this season – a 19-16 defeat of Jersey at the start of October.
