The result preserved their perfect start to the season and keeps them in a handy early season league placing.

They charged into an early 12-point lead courtesy of three, 5-1 maximums as well as providing all five heat winners in the opening stages.

Freddie Lindgren and Sam Masters outgated Piotr Swiderski and Grand Prix star Andreas Jonsson in heat one to get the Wolves' 2016 home campaign off to the perfect start.

Reserve Kyle Howarth led a share of the spoils in the next before Jacob Thorssell and Joonas Kylmakorpi hit the front in heat three.

Howarth and Mikkel Bech also made lightning starts in heat four before Masters rode a good race to hold off a hard charging Swiderski in the fifth.

With the visitors still trailing by 12, Lakeside nominated No.1 Jonsson for double points in heat six.

While the Hammers fought back with a 7-1, it could have been by an extra point.

Lewis Bridger was fast away from the tapes and comfortable out front, however he failed to look behind him and acknowledge his team partner, leaving a frustrated Jonsson to settle for second.

Four out of the next five races were split, before Lakeside pulled themselves back into contention with a 5-1.

Howarth spun round on the first bend enabling the visiting reserves to pull clear ahead of a struggling Max Clegg.

With just four points in it, the tension built but Wolves responded in ultimate style.

They rounded off their evening with three further maximums of their own, as Australian ace Masters bagged a paid maximum on his home debut.

WOLVERHAMPTON 54: Sam Masters 13+2, Freddie Lindgren 11+1, Joonas Kylmakorpi 8+1, Kyle Howarth 7+2, Mikkel Bech 7+1, Jacob Thorssell 7, Max Clegg 1.
