It was a strong all-around team effort to bounce back from last week's disheartening defeat against Swindon.

And ensure they pulled nine points clear of the Lions in their bid to avoid the bottom of the Elite League table.

It was an excellent night, as they got back to winning ways in fine style with a powerful performance. Leicester did snatch a consolation point in dramatic circumstances in the final race.

Two comfortable 5-1s in the opening two races saw them seize control – even with the loss of Lewis Blackbird in a horrific first bend pile-up in heat five victory never looked in doubt.

After being pegged back somewhat after their strong start, Freddie Lindgren and Peter Karlsson rolled back the years to magnificently pick off Grzegorz Walasek one by one in heat seven.

The impressive Ricky Wells then majestically sliced underneath Jason Doyle on the opening lap of heat 10, before holding off the Grand Prix star in fine style to move them 10 clear.

Wolverhampton: Ricky Wells 12, Fredrik Lindgren 10+1, Jacob Thorssell 9+1, Peter Karlsson 7+2, Josh Bates 7, Tobiasz Musielak 2+2, Lewis Blackbird 2.

Leicester: Jason Doyle 12, Piotr Swiderski 8+1, Jason Garrity 8+1, Ashley Morris 6+2, Ludvig Lindgren 5, Grzegorz Walasek 2+1, Szymon Wozniak 2.[/breakout]

Although that opened the door to a Lions' tactical ride, supreme Swede Lindgren saw off the hard-charging Piotr Swiderski to keep his side in the driving seat entering the closing stages.

With a pair of 3-3s assuring victory, Wells brilliantly worked his way to the front in the penultimate race – only to see Doyle and Swiderski charge clear to snatch a consolation point for the Lions.

Wolves will now look to build on an encouraging display as they look to end their season with a flourish – starting as they travel to Leicester for the return fixture on Saturday vying to end their troublesome away form.
