Since claiming a spectacular away victory over the Hammers in April, Wolves have struggled to make an impact on their travels.

Despite their best efforts, they were left without a point for the fifth successive away meeting.

A disastrous start ensured Peter Adams' side were always playing catch up on what was a tough evening, as they contended with tricky track conditions and an inspired Lakeside team.

All-action Polish talent Tobiasz Musielak brilliantly blasted around Kim Nilsson to join Peter Karlsson at the front in a scintillating heat three.

It got Wolves back into contention, after they had conceded 5-1s in the opening two races.

Yet it proved a rare glimpse of hope as they were condemned to a resounding loss having been second best all night.

Some sluggish starting ensured they conceded a trio of consecutive 5-1s to leave them 16 behind entering heat ten.

When Freddie Lindgren was passed by Eddie Kennett as he took a tactical ride, it all but ended their chances.

Having failed to take advantage of what team boss Adams dubbed their "last throw of the dice," they eventually fell to a 23 point defeat by the time the meeting drew to a close.#

The spectacular Musielak did raise eyebrows with arguably the most eye catching performance of his short Wolves career so far.

After his fine opening ride, he prevailed in a blockbuster battle with the previously unbeaten Mikkel Bech in heat 11.

But he hit the deck whilst leading the penultimate race he ended with a creditable 6+1 points.

Skipper Karlsson also fought hard against his former club, notching nine points, but No.1 Freddie Lindgren once again struggled away from home.

Lakeside: Mikkel Bech 13+1, Ashley Birks 11+3, Kim Nilsson 9+1, Andreas Jonsson 7+3, Edward Kennett 6, Adam Ellis 6, Richard Lawson 5+2.

Wolverhampton: Peter Karlsson 9, Ricky Wells 7, Fredrik Lindgren 6+1, Tobiasz Musielak 6+1, Lewis Blackbird 4, Jacob Thorssell 1+1, Josh Bates 1.
