Double joy for Cradley stars on their travels

Cradley rounded off their regular National League programme in spectacular style beating the King's Lynn Young Stars 64-29 at the Norfolk Arena – and they lifted the National Shield at the same time.

Another remarkable team performance saw the Heathens extend their winning run to 16 meetings last night.

The win also saw them retain the prestigious Shield for a fourth straight season.

The meeting also served as the second leg of the competition and a staggering 133-52 aggregate victory saw the Heathens secure their first piece of silverware this season.

Despite being without Tom Perry, who was fulfilling his Elite League commitments with Wolverhampton, the former Dudley Wood outfit were once again in breathtaking form.

Five of the opening seven heats saw them bag maximum 5-1 heat advanatges and from there on in another Cradley victory was never in any doubt.

New number one, Steve Worrall, eased to yet another paid maximum and then successfully defended his Bronze Helmet against Marc Owen.

It meant he is now unbeaten by an opposition rider in 23 heats in the National League.

He was backed up brilliantly by talented youngster Max Clegg, who picked up a five ride paid maximum of his own after another confidence-boosting performance.
