Birmingham ready for busy speedway spell

Birmingham launch a hectic spell of four Elite League matches in six days with tonight's local derby at Wolverhampton.

The Selco Brummies, who will have Jack Lee in charge for the first time after his appointment last week, host Belle Vue on Wednesday at Perry Barr before trips to Coventry on Friday and Eastbourne the following day.

Adam Skornicki, Edward Kennett, Simon Lambert and Paul Starke are handed their Birmingham debuts – along with the new team manager.

And co-promoter Graham Drury is warning people not to expect too much too soon from the side.

He said: "It's going to be a busy start to the season for us with four meetings in the space of a week.

"Obviously three of those are away from home against Wolverhampton, Coventry and Eastbourne and we are hoping to get some points on the board there to try and build some momentum.

"What I would say about this team is I think the way it's built it should progress and improve as the season goes on.

"As we found out to our expense last year, it's no good being the best team at the start or middle of the season if you run out of team towards the end.

"Hopefully this time around we can peak at the right time."
