BDO wildcards again on offer in Wolverhampton

The BDO will again offer aspiring darters to the chance to win a place in the World Masters and a World Championship play-off this year.Local throwers have the incentive of wildcards to the organisation's two flagship events, the worlds at the famous Lakeside in January.

It's part on the prize on offer to the winner of the Wolverhampton Open on Saturday August 22, in the third annual staging of the event, writes Craig Birch.

A cool £1,000 also goes to the champion as part of a £3,000 total prize fund, £500 of which will land in the hands of the runner-up.

Another 14 cash prizes will be shared further down the pecking order, while £100 is up-for-grabs for the highest checkout of the day.

World Masters sponsors Winmau are using Wolverhampton Sports Arena for the event, using their Blade 4 dartboards for each game.

Former PDC player Tony Randell, from Solihull, took the spoils last year from a field of 93 players in the non-ranking tournament.

Players can pay their entry fee upon arrival at the venue, with registration from 10.30am to 11.30am before toeing the oche at 12pm.
