Jones battled back to 3-3 against Andy Hamilton in the first round today, but lost the next seven legs to be beaten 10-3.

'The Wanderer' was 2-0 down before he woke up at the Winter Gardens, in front of a live Sky Sports audience at the second biggest tournament on the PDC calendar.

Hamilton hit the first 180 of the game before Jones replied with a maximum of his own, double 13 bringing him back into the match at 2-1.

He went another leg down but answered back to make it 3-2 at the first break in play, double nine then restoring parity in the sixth leg.

It all fell apart from there as Hamilton took command, Jones hitting another 180 in the last leg with the result beyond doubt.
