Wasim Jaffer stars again for Wolverhampton

Wolverhampton continue to set the Birmingham & District League Premier Division title pace following another Wasim Jaffer masterclass.

Jaffer ended unbeaten on 71 as the Danescourt men claimed a five-wicket success over Barnt Green.

The former India Test match batsman has yet to be dismissed in the league this summer.

He joined forces with James Hammond (30 not out) to guide his side home after they had been reduced to 51-5 in pursuit of Barnt Green's 125.

The visitors had been rolled out by opening bowlers Johannes Bothma and Usman Arif, who bowled unchanged to finish with 5-58 and 5-66 respectively.

Kidderminster maintained their impressive recent form by recording a third successive victory.

After restricting Walmley to 205-9, Jonathan Wright (66) and Craig Wood (57) guided Kidderminster to a three-wicket win.

Walsall ended one run short of claiming a winning draw in a rain-affected game against West Bromwich Dartmouth at Gorway.

A superb return of 7-52 from Walsall all-rounder Ed Denham helped restrict Dartmouth to 206-9 in 55 overs. Ateeq Javid top-scored with 66.

Facing a revised target of 153 for a winning draw from 32 overs, Walsall finished on 152-7.

First Division leaders Smethwick had to be content with a winning draw from their clash with Sutton Coldfield.

Smethwick were dismissed for 185, with Amitoze Singh (64) and Naqaash Tahir (50) the chief contributors.

In reply, Sutton struggled to 121-8 in an innings reduced to 45 overs. Smethwick's Sukhjit Singh took 4-41.

Himley dropped to third after a six-wicket reverse against Dorridge. Jamie Turner's 45 helped Himley scramble to 146, with Dorridge easing home inside 37 overs.

Old Hill registered their first league win of the season in a low-scoring affair with Bridgnorth. Ashfak Hussein took 5-28, as the Shropshire side were rolled out for 93.

Old Hill then had to withstand an impressive spell from Worcestershire pace man Charlie Morris (6-27), as they edged home by three wickets.

Eddie Rhodes was the star of the show as Halesowen beat Tamworth by six wickets in Division Two.

Rhodes bagged 7-49 to help fire out Tamworth for 109. An unbeaten 39 from Kester Moseley then guided Halesowen to a comfortable victory.

Stourbridge folded for 79 in a 46-run reverse against Old Elizabethans.

Penkridge's batters also suffered an off day as they fell for 94 on their way to a six-wicket loss at the hands of Stratford-upon-Avon.

Cannock & Rugeley Hawks held on for a losing draw against Oswestry. Chasing 255-8, Hawks finished on 232-9 withr Omar Ali scoring 73 and Saqib Akbar 43.

Wombourne also had to be content with a losing draw in a rain-affected clash with Coventry & North Warwickshire.

The hosts were 101-2 in pursuit of Coventry's 198-5 but a collapse saw then finish on 135-8, Karl Quiney top-scoring with 42.

Fordhouses are leading the way in Division Three after beating a Streetly side who had started the day top of the standings.

Ruhan Pretorius and Aatif Ali picked up three wickets each as Streetly were shot out for 119.

An unbeaten 45 not out from Leicestershire academy prospect Shoaib Akhtar guided Fordhouses to an eight-wicket win.

Lichfield were bowled out for 136 as they went down by five wickets to Handsworth.

Brewood earned a winning draw from their home game against Aston Manor who were all out for 191. Robbie Byrne impressed with the ball as he took 4-39.

Facing a revised target for a winning draw in 44 overs, Brewood nearly went on to win the game, finishing on 188-7 after Dewald Joubert crashed a superb unbeaten 111 from 82 balls.
