Footballers take on boxers for a good cause!
The gloves will be off at Red Star Football Club as a team of footballers tackle a side of pro boxers in the name of charity.
A feisty affair is expected when the fighters instead lace on the football boots for a 90 minute friendly this Sunday afternoon,
The action takes place at Red Star's Middlemore Lane ground in Aldridge, Walsall, with a 2pm kick-off for the match.
Leading the charge for the footballers will be defender James Chambers, twin brother of current Walsall captain Adam.
The 35-year-old retired ahead of his sibling last year to pursue business interests and will be joined in the starting line-up by fellow Saddlers favourites Darren Wrack and Mark Taylor.
Former Walsall starlets Sean Geddes and Harry Harris also feature along with non-league campaigners Andy Reece, Paul Atthey, Raj Jill, Trevor Brown and Richard Brown.
All, apart from promoter Errol Johnson, on the boxer's side are either still stepping through the ropes or have previously done so to a pro level.
Walsall's Martin Gethin and Rendall Munroe, from Leicester, ruled as British and European champions respectively. The retired Munroe later challenged for a WBC world title in 2010.
Gethin's brothers Darren and Steven have also called time but will now engage in a different sport, as do Wayne Downing and Ben Wilkes.
Siblings Des and Sid Bowater remain active in the pro game along with Tony Jones, Adam Harper, Daniel Breeze and Luke Paddock, the latter preparing for an English title shot on July 24.
They will be having a ball to raise money for 'Red Heart Day,' inspired by the courage of Aldridge youngster Jake Heywood-Wakeman.
The 12-year-old has suffered from serious heart problems since soon after he was born and has now been diagnosed with Shone's Syndrome, which cannot be cured.
Jake continues to battle on and enjoy his life, which has inspired organisers to put on this event with all profits benefitting the Birmingham Children's Hospital and British Heart Foundation.
Entry to the family fun day is just £2 with attractions for children including a candy cart, food and ice cream vans, a bouncy castle, face painting and mascots. They will run from 1.30pm-5pm.
