Tipton's Lee Glover has told his Midlands featherweight title rival 'size matters' before they duel for the vacant area crown tomorrow.

Glover takes on Nottinghamshire's Leigh Wood at the Sheffield Arena with both fighters looking to claim their first bona-fide belt,

'The Tipton Slasher' has twice unsuccessfully gone for English honours at super feather, while 'Leigh-thal' lost to Gavin McDonnell when the latter was British champion.

A make-or-break contest now awaits the two, on the undercard of Kell Brook's IBF world welterweight title defence against Kevin Bizier.

The Sky Sports cameras won't start rolling until after their bout, but the Black Country boxer is confident he'll be crowned a Midlands titlist by the time the show goes on air.

The 28-year-old believes he's got the size and power to bully Wood, who he beat at feather when the two were amateurs in the 2009 senior ABA competition.

Glover said: "From what I remember of that day, I boxed really nice and he came out trying to be flashy. I was bigger, stronger and sharper than he was.

"Now we are in the pros and you have to remember that he's coming up a weight and I'm coming down. I'll be trying to overpower him.

"Our last fight doesn't really matter now, this will be where it counts, but I expect the result to be the same. I've never lost at feather as a pro.

"To get the win here is crucial for me, every fight is a test but there's a lot riding on this. I need that title and boxing on these sort of shows is where I feel I belong."

Glover's last fight came under the Matchroom banner last year, going down in the seventh round by count out to English champion Andy Townend.

He swaps the First Direct Arena in Leeds for Sheffield this time, with the powerful Townend making his latest defence against Craig Poxton elsewhere on the card.

Glover tipped the scales at the Sheffield Winter Garden today - and had to completely strip to land bang on the 9st limit.

He joked: "It's a good job I'm not shy! It's not always easy for me to get down to feather, but I'll be bigger than most at the weight."
