It's Natty Howell next for Daniel Breeze

Bloxwich's Daniel Breeze has already lined up his first defence of the British Challenge middleweight title after picking up the belt.

Breeze won his first pro crown headlining promoter Tommy Owens' show in the Holte Suite at Aston Villa Football Club,

'The Hurricane' travelled up from welter to defeat co-challenger Lewis van Poetsch by points landslide for eight-round honours on Saturday night.

And the 20-year-old will put the strap up-for-grabs against fellow unbeaten fighter and former stable-mate Natty Howell at the same venue on May 14.

Howell, who lives in Rowley Regis, used to train alongside Breeze under coach Jon Pegg in Birmingham and now boxes out of Matthew and Sheamus Macklin's gym in the second city.

A split audience will be expected for a battle between two good ticket-sellers, with Howell originally hailing from Aston.

'The Natural' didn't watch his next opponent at the weekend, though, opting to attend the Scott Quigg versus Carl Frampton unification world title fight in Manchester instead.

He missed Breeze rolling over his first title test by shut-out, with his rival making it 9-0 in the paid ranks and looking to hit double figures.

Breeze said: "Natty will be confident and expecting to win, but I know what I'm capable of. I've just controlled a title fight.

"I felt good and hurt him along the way, but I let him off really. It's good to get the rounds in, though, and prove that I can do it. I'm really excited about taking on Natty now."

Breeze tested the resolve of 'Poochi' with a right hand to the head in the second round, but his search for a stoppage goes on in the pro code.

Howell has three paid wins but has a stunning first round TKO on his record, dropping Sam Wall twice with some lightning quick and well-disguised right hands.
