West Bromwich's Jack Summers is ready for action as he looks to build on his impressive paid debut this weekend.

The 20-year-old super featherweight returns to the same Walsall Town Hall venue where he turned over nearly three months ago,

writes Craig Birch.

Summers came out like a house on fire against Oasim Hussain that evening, digging in with dangerous body shots at a high pace.

He boxed more tentatively as the fight wore on, to the point of dropping a share of the third round, but showed a great deal of promise.

He settled for a 39-37 points win that time and now steps back through the ropes for another four-rounder against Leeds' Russ Midgeley.

He's trained even harder for this one, too, and enjoyed sparring with the likes of Midlands featherweight title challenger Paul Holt.

He's now looking for a complete performance on Saturday's fight night and knows what he's getting in with, having watched Midgeley fold in three to Amin Al Nuaimi in Birmingham.

Summers said: "I really enjoyed my debut. The support was great. The pro game suits me better, because you have time to think and pick your shots and that's what I'm best at.

"My training camp has gone really well. I have been putting in the work and pushing myself to the limit. I've been doing a lot more sparring for this one, as well.

"I have shared the ring with Paul Holt and felt comfortable, so that was a good feeling. I don't really know a lot about my opponent.

"I watched him get stopped at the Venue in Birmingham not so long back and he didn't have anything that night that worries me.

"I'm ready to put on a show and give the fans an edge of the seat action-packed fight."

Tom Stokes also appears as he travels up to middleweight after 19 months out of the ring, with Telford's Kieron Gray in the other corner.

Big heavyweight Matthew Gordon takes on the experienced Czech Jindrich Velecky, having debuted with a points win on the same night as Summers. All three are from West Bromwich.

Holt, in his first since gamely challenging for the area title, tops the Town Hall bill with a six-rounder against Swindon's Joe Beeden.

Two debutants complete the card as Wolverhampton's Leon Brown turns over at light heavy, with Brummie Luke Walker's first punch for pay comes in the light middle division.

Brown faces Mitch Mitchell in the latter's half-century, his 50th paid bout, while Walker has been paired with fellow debutant Bryn Wain.

Tickets, priced at £30 and £60 ringside, are still on sale from the Town Hall Box Office on 0845 111 2900.
