'The Cobra' is to star in 'Once Upon a Time in London,' a British movie in post-production, after hanging up his gloves this week.

The film is from the makers of 'Rise of the Footsoldier,' a true story about the Rettendon murders in Essex 20 years ago.

Froch called time on Tuesday, after a career that brought him three world titles including a double reign as the WBC super middleweight champion.

The 38-year-old will become a permanent pundit for Sky Sports' boxing coverage and, in his free time, has aspirations of becoming a star of the silver screen.

He said: "I'm very busy outside of boxing and I have financial freedom, so I am looking to forge a new life for myself in television and acting.

Four-time world champion Carl Froch announced this week that he is retiring from boxing and will join Sky Sports.

"This film is set in 1950s Soho, I'm playing a gangster. I've read the script and I just need to decide what part is for me. I don't want anything too big, as I'm not an actor.

"I'll give it a go, have a bit of fun and see how it goes for me."

Froch will also work in the Sky Academy, initiatives that use television, creativity and sport to unlock potential in young people. They are targeting getting a million kids involved.

The fighting pride of Nottingham is glad to still be playing an active role in boxing, too, after swapping the ring for the headset.

He said: "I'm incredibly proud of what I have achieved in boxing and I have nothing left to prove - my legacy speaks for itself.

"Nothing can replace the thrill of stepping into the ring but, with working with Sky Sports, I'll be doing the next best thing."
