Andrew Robinson has told his Midlands super middleweight title rival to be ready for a toe-to-toe war at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on Saturday.

Robinson steps through the ropes with fellow hard-man 'Prince' David Davis for 10 rounds on fight night, with the vacant area belt at stake,

writes Craig Birch.

And 'Robbo' wants to provide entertainment akin to the Fight of the Year contender he produced against Frank Buglioni last November.

The super-game scrapper, a graduate of Lions Boxing Club in Dudley, climbed off the canvas in the seventh round to go the distance.

He was outpointed by Buglioni, ranked No 6 by the WBC, for the WBO European crown but earned plaudits for his never-say-die display.

Now the 30-year-old from Redditch vows to stand his ground again with Ilkeston's Davis, a rugged former Midlands middleweight champion.

Robinson said: "I like to be an exciting fighter who gives value for money. I want to win this title in style - and get people talking about me again.

"I like to entertain the crowd. I don't study my opponents, but I'm told he likes to stand there and trade - and so do I.

"I out tough people, I out-work them and I don't think he realises how strong I am. He's in a whole lot of trouble. They don't call me 'D'Animal' for nothing!"

Robinson completed the distance he goes in there for this weekend during a gruelling war with Buglioni, who he hurt in the earlier rounds.

He said: "I want him again. I need to put that to bed. What happened the last time we fought has been eating away at me. It keeps me awake at night!

"If there had been another minute, I would have won. That was my first 10-rounder and if I had believed in my fitness more, I would have put it on him from the first round and broken him down.

"I know if I fought him again, I know I would win. That fight has given me a lot of belief. He's No 6, so that makes me think I should be in the top 10 as well.

"I believe I'm at that level. I feel like I'm an established, seasoned fighter now."

A grudge match main event sees Midlands light middleweight boss Jason Welborn, from Rowley Regis, defend against Dudley's Ryan Aston.

Like Robinson versus Davis, a vacant area belt will be on the line when Birmingham's Paul Holt battles with Bobby Jenkinson at feather.
