The highly-rated super middleweight prospect scored a one punch knock-out at the Hatherley Manor Hotel, writes Daniel Mole.

It extended his unbeaten run to five straight professional wins and three of those wins have now come early, as Clarke's reputation as a formidable power puncher grows.

Sniedze went into the contest with a record of nine wins, 22 losses and two draws. Seven of his victories had come by way of knock-out, with just four of his defeats ending early.

After Clarke had blown away his last opponent, Croydon's Joe Walsh inside two minutes, Sniedze had looked like the kind of opponent who would give the 23-year-old a tougher test.

Clarke had other plans. A booming right hook landed flush on the chin of Sniedze just 14 seconds into the four-round contest and it was Goodnight Vienna, or should that be Riga, for the Latvian.

"You don't get paid for overtime," Clarke joked afterwards. "I'd heard that Sniedze was a tough customer but I threw him the right, and it was goodnight!"

"I've got to be pleased with that. I know I need to get more rounds in but this is boxing.

"If you can get your opponent out of there then that's what you've got to do. It was over before it started but it was a peach of a shot."

"I've had a good camp and, because there's no fatigue, it means I can go again and prepare for my next fight, which is in Walsall on November 29."

Tickets to see Clarke in action at Walsall Town Hall next month are priced at £30 and £50 Ringside and are available from Walsall Town Hall Box Office on 0845 111 2900.

The after-show party and weigh-in are both at the Pitch Sports Bar and Grill on Bridge Street in Walsall.
