It's Clarke v Clark on fight night as Halesowen's Lennox squares up to Ryan in a contest where his opponent could be forgiven for having his mind elsewhere.

Clarke has reaped the benefit of a full training camp and sparring with the likes of WBC International super middleweight champion Callum Smith.

Lincoln's Clark, meanwhile, has hardly seen the gym having been at hospital with his partner Bethany Phillips, who gave birth to their first child Paris Roma nine weeks early.

There will be no sentiment from big Lennox as he hunts his fifth straight win since turning professional, but he will come to Bedworth Civic Hall on Saturday expecting fireworks.

Power - Lennox Clarke took less than a round to blast out his last opponent Joe Walsh in the summer

The 23-year-old said: "Ryan is a decent lad. He will come to win and that's how I like it. I need pushing and I need a test.

"Stopping Joe Walsh in a round last time was good for the fans, but I needed a bit more. I didn't get out of first gear.

"This guy will come forward and try and put it on me, so I will have to step it up. I'm looking forward to it. I want to progress and make a name for myself."

Clark, having only turned 25 in August, will be competing in his 66th pro contest. The last six fights have seen his career reach a plateau and then nosedive again, but he's still regarded as teak-tough.

His 2012 saw him stop Jonjo Finnegan twice for the International Masters title and then batter Jamie Boness in a round defending the belt.

But he was knocked out himself in the seventh round by puncher Martin Concepcion for the vacant Midlands crown last year.

He then fell after in eight to another heavy-hitter from Leicester, Jahmaine Smyle, with British Masters honours on the line in May.

July's points loss to the returning Richard Horton leaves him needing a win and, as he relies on boxing to pay the bills, Clark won't come and lie down for anyone.

Ryan Clark has won a Masters belt but lost a Midlands title shot

He said: "I don't know much about Lennox but if he thinks he's just going to turn up and knock out, good luck to him. I have had some of the biggest hitters in the country take their best shot.

"I come to fight and so will he, which should be good for the crowd! Let's get it on."

Clarke will be equally confident of his own fortitude having absorbed the shots of the highly-rated Smith in the sparring ring, after being invited to train at the famed Gallagher's Gym in Bolton.

He said: "As an experience, it was bigger than any I've had so far.

"He's a powerful boxer with unbelievable talent, so I was as nervous as I am before a fight, but I didn't feel that I shouldn't have been in there with him. It's given me loads of confidence.

"If I can hold my own with boxers like Callum, one of the hottest prospects out there, it gives me belief that I can get to where I want to get to.

"I see him and think 'I want to be in there with you properly one day.' After sparring with Callum, I've got an insight in to what is required from me to be fighting that level of boxers."
