Saddlers' Sam Mantom at Walsall's fight night

Walsall midfielder Sam Mantom will present the belt to the winner of the title fight between Tipton's Lee Glover and Andy Harris tomorrow night.

The two step through the ropes to do battle for the vacant British Masters super featherweight title over 10 rounds at Walsall Town Hall.

And the victor of the main event will have the strap wrapped his waist by ex-West Brom ace Mantom, the Saddlers' Player of the Season.

He said: "It will be good. I enjoy the sport and I've been to Walsall Town Hall for the boxing before. They are always good nights there.

"I am more than happy to support fellow sportsmen. As a Black Country lad, I will be cheering on Lee Glover, but I hope it's a good fight."

Glover has a chance to win his first crown since winning the International Masters featherweight belt three years ago, in his sixth pro fight.

'The Tipton Slasher' did push English champion Jon Kays close before a narrow points defeat in March, only his second bout in two years.

Now the 27-year-old wants to get back up to speed against Gloucester's Harris, the game scrapper replacing scheduled opponent Joe Beeden.

Glover said: "Having a 10-round fight on home soil is just what I have been waiting for. It's been a long time since I fought in front of my home fans.

"I want to put on a bit of a show. It's a big deal for me. Andy Harris is a tough kid. He will be a test but I'm ready for it. I'm fully committed to boxing.

"Losing to Kays still plays on my mind a bit but I am using that as motivation to push on. At the end of the day, I took the English champion all the way.

"I only lost a majority decision away from home against the champion. I have proved I can mix it at that level."

The after-show party will be staged at the Pitch Sports Bar and Grill, on Bridge Street in Walsall.
