The Black Country thrower is back in singles action after reaching the last 16 of the Grand Slam of Darts, on his debut, at Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

It was three-leg sets action in a first-to-three race this time at Lakeside, which is hosting this year's Masters as well as the World Championship.

Williams was first to the oche at Frimley Green to take on Robert Allenstein, with the German taking him to a deciding set before going down 3-2.

Hughes, the BDO No 3, was not as pushed against Robson, a three-time Masters quarter-finalist, as he got across the line 3-1.

'Yozza' first made his name two years as an unknown with a run all the way to the final of the Masters, losing 7-3 to Martin Phillips.
