Rio Paralympics 2016: Wolverhampton's Kyle Marsh wins wheelchair basketball bronze

Wolverhampton's wheelchair basketball star Kyle Marsh joined his Paralympic GB teammates in celebrating bagging a bronze medal marking more success for Midlands' athletes at Rio.

The men's team secured a podium place after beating Turkey in a thrilling bronze medal match 82-76 on the last full day of competition yesterday.

Kyle now splits his time between Wolverhampton and Spain after signing for BSR Amiab Albacete. He has been playing wheelchair basketball since the early 2000s.

He represented the GB U22 Team at the 2006, 2008, and 2010 U22 European Championships before then graduating to the senior team, where the 26-year-old won gold at the same championships in both 2013 and 2015.

Meanwhile, swimming sensation Ellie Simmonds, the region's most successful Paralympian, missed out on a medal in her final competition last night.

Aldridge-born Ellie came in fifth in the women's 100m Freestyle - S6 final with her young compatriot Ellie Robinson, 15, winning bronze.
