Kristian Thomas makes GB Worlds squad

Wolverhampton's Kristian Thomas has been named in the Great Britain squad for this month's World Gymnastics Championships.

The 26-year-old Olympic bronze medallist is part of a six-man men's team who will take on the world's best in Glasgow at the championships, which begin on October 23.

Nile Wilson, Max Whitlock, Louis Smith, Daniel Purvis and Brinn Bevan make up the rest of the line-up.

The championships is the most important of the Olympic cycle, with the top eight teams who qualify for the final will also securing their place for the team competition at next year's Rio Olympics.

Eddie Van Hoof, the GB men's head national coach, said: "The team reflects the great strides made by the Great Britain's men's gymnastics programme.

"There's a real blend of experience and youth in our team. The primary aim for Glasgow is Rio qualification.

"A home World Championships with the fantastic home crowd also gives extra motivation for individuals to really make their mark."
