Bullish Jordy Hiwula is confident Walsall won't get sucked into a relegation scrap - as he sets sights on having a happy Yeovil return. more

The 20-year-old Manchester City striker wants to crank up the pressure on the rock bottom Glovers by firing the Saddlers to victory tonight.

Hiwula spent a frustrating nine game loan spell at Huish Park earlier this season, scoring only once.

But he has netted three in six games for the Saddlers and is eager to increase his tally and fire Dean Smith's men out of their own slump, which has seen them take just one point from the past four games.

That has seen the gap between them and the bottom four cut to just six points but Hiwula remains confident they have what it takes to avoid any late season worries.

"I don't think we will get sucked into it," he said. "We have watched the tape of Saturday to see what we need to improve on.

"At Yeovil we will be ready to fight for the points."

Hiwula accepts things didn't "click" during his time with the Glovers, when a proposed three month loan stay was cut short with more than a month still to run.

At Walsall, his performances have been enough to see an initial month long loan extended and the young striker believes he is learning with every game.

"It's just about getting into the routine of playing every Saturday and Tuesday," he said. "I think I am learning a lot.

"You are playing against different types of teams, some will come and press while others sit off. "It is how you play the games and what types of runs you are making. I think I am learning that."

Hiwula was also quick to praise the Saddlers supporters after manager Dean Smith criticised a section of the crowd for the "sarcasm" they expressed during Saturday's hugely disappointing defeat to Leyton Orient.

"I think the fans are really great here," he said. "They are always behind us, even when we lose they are always chanting and always trying to encourage you from the game.

"I didn't really take notice of it (on Saturday) to be honest."
