Kinsella signed professional forms in the summer, after coming through the youth ranks, and is viewed as one for the future by boss Dean Smith.
He now follows his father Mark, who won 48 full caps, into full international recognition for the Republic. He will miss next Tuesday's league game at Preston as a result.
The Irish host Azerbaijan at Tallaght Stadium on Wednesday, before then the two sides meet again at the same venue on Friday.
