Sam Mantom today backed Reece Flanagan to break through next season as Walsall saw their hopes of re-signing Febian Brandy extinguished.
The Saddlers had looked favourites to land the 25-year-old after his release from Sheffield United but the winger has signed for Championship side Rotherham.
Brandy had spent the second half of last season back on loan at the Banks’s Stadium.
Meanwhile, Mantom has tipped Flanagan to provide him and Adam Chambers with competition in midfield.
“Reece has got a lot of potential,” he said. “He went on loan last season and did really well.
“Hopefully he can push me and Adam Chambers.”
