Dean Smith today hailed the impact of midfielder Nicky Featherstone in Walsall’s recent good run.
The 24-year-old has impressed as part of a central midfield three along with Adam Chambers and Sam Mantom.
Featherstone found himself out of the side at the start of the season as Smith preferred to play just Chambers and Mantom in the centre of midfield, after their excellent form over the latter stages of last season.
But he has flourished after returning to the side and the manager has praised both the player’s performances and patience.
“Nicky has never let his frustrations show,” Smith said.
“He has just got on with it in reserve games and training. He has certainly taken his chance.”
