Walsall boss Dean Smith today missed out on the League One Manager of the Month award – with the prize instead going to Preston boss Simon Grayson.
Smith had been nominated after the Saddlers claimed eight points from four games in September, including the derby win at Wolves.
But the judges decided the award should go to Grayson, whose Preston side won all four of their fixtures.
Peterborough’s Darren Ferguson and Carlisle United’s Graham Kavanagh had also been nominated.
Burnley’s Sean Dyche claimed the Championship Manager of the Month award, after his side claimed three wins at a draw, including comprehensive home wins over Birmingham City and Charlton.
Rochdale’s Keith Hill took the League Two award.
