Harriers' hopes of ending a 17-game spell without a league win away from Aggborough looked likely when Kelvin Langmead, netted his second goal for the club, some 11-and-a-half years after his first.

Langmead arrived to convert Matty Barnes-Homer's pull back from Ben Whitfield's 38th minute free kick against Chester City. But the joy was to be short- lived.

The early exchanges favoured the home side, Johnny Hunt stung the gloves of Dean Snedker and somehow Hannah contrIved to screw the rebound wide when it seemed easier to score.

Controversy surrounded the home side's equaliser as Kyle Howkins was laid out inside his own six-yard box, holding his head for a full minute before Ross Hannah atoned for his earlier miss by sweeping home James Roberts centre for a leveller before the interval.

Harriers were behind within 30 seconds of the re-start, Dino Fazlic was robbed by Ross Hannah and his pass was driven home by John Rooney to put Chester ahead, it gave Chester the belief and the tempo to put Harriers under further pressure.

The game was decided with nine minutes remaining Ross Hannah rounded off a miserable night for Harriers as Dean Snedker coud only parry Rooney's shot into the striker's path.

Harriers Dave Hockaday said: "I was a bit disappointed we didn't play to the level that we did against Woking, I felt they perhaps deserved the win but you have to look at the referee's decisions we have our own player down in the box with a head injury, he has to stop the game and the third goal the lad was well off-side."
