Boss Dave Hockaday has told Kidderminster Harriers to relish their underdog status at Grimsby Town tomorrow.

Harriers head to the east coast hoping to record back-to-back wins for the first time this season but will face a stern test against the hosts, who have won their last four games.

The fixture kicks off a fearsome run for Hockaday's men, who play a virtual who's-who of National League Premier promotion contenders over the next six weeks.

But it's a period the head coach insists his players should approach with confidence.

He said: "Grimsby are probably the form team in the division right now and we have nothing to lose.

"There will be a decent crowd there and nobody is expecting us to do anything. It does take the pressure off when everyone will be thinking they will thump us.

"I think everyone in this country loves an underdog and that is the kind of spirit we must look for in the coming weeks."

Despite Hockaday's claims of the pressure being off, the head coach is all too aware of the need to build on an encouraging run of two wins from three games.

While still leaving them deep in the relegation zone it has, at least, created some belief escape may be possible.

They remain seven points from safety, but with games in hand on those teams immediately above the survival mark.

And the head coach believes, after much chopping and changing following his appointment early last month, a consistent team selection is beginning to pay dividends.

He said: "We have started to get a bit of stability in the team. We look more professional, a tighter unit and there are a lot of positives we can take from the last few performances.

"There is still a long, long way to go, of course. In many ways we are still laying the foundations and I will not be happy until we are winning every game.

"You've always got to strive for better. The moments in this game when you think you've cracked it are when you fall."

Hockaday must decide whether to hand an instant recall to striker Matthew Barnes-Homer or stick with the same starting line-up which defeated Aldershot a fortnight ago.

The on-loan striker was unable to play in the game against his parent club, but has impressed during his stay at Aggborough.
